Product entry points

Four ways to start with Vision Scan.

GTIN

Primary product identity before lot, expiry or serial

Edge

Camera and scanner intelligence without image upload by default

Portal

Entitlements, sites, billing and SDK access in one workspace

API

Canonical JSON for ERP, WMS and receiving workflows

How it works

One configurable scan layer, applied per environment.

Vision Scan finds and structures barcode evidence across receiving, counting, picking and exception review. Industry profiles add the identifiers and validation rules each environment needs.

Decode

Read barcodes with high accuracy on devices and cameras.

Validate

Check against GS1, FDA, EU FMD and custom rules.

Enrich

Capture lot, serial, expiry and product details.

Integrate

Send structured data to your WMS, ERP or systems.

The operational problem

One-by-one scanning does not scale with the shipment.

Each package requires aiming, scanning, and entering lot and expiration data. With large orders, this becomes slow, error-prone, and makes traceability harder to verify.

Built for every receiving lane

One product story for pharmacies, wholesalers and distributors.

Pharmacies

Faster receiving with review-safe exceptions

Reduce repetitive package-by-package scans while keeping missing fields and mismatches visible to the operator.

Wholesalers

Bulk intake that keeps traceability linked

Associate product identity, lot, expiry, serial and quantity across high-volume receiving sessions.

How teams use it

How it works

  1. Receiving operator capturing visible barcode labels across cartons with a handheld scanner
    Stage 1Capture

Sweep a camera over visible labels, or scan individual barcodes with a device imager when needed.

  2. Receiving operator confirming one carton barcode with a verified scanner result
    Stage 2Confirm product identity

Verify the product is correct before recording lot, expiration, serial, or quantity.

  3. Repeated scans of one carton converging into a single verified observation
    Stage 3Remove duplicates

Scan the same item multiple times without creating duplicate records.

  4. Receiving operator reviewing verified, ambiguous, and exception barcode states
    Stage 4Review exceptions

Missing or unclear items stay visible so the operator can resolve them.

  5. Scan data moving through a secure edge hub to warehouse and database systems
    Stage 5Integrate

Send standardized JSON data to your ERP, WMS, or receiving system.

Enterprise Integration Ecosystem

Plugs into the hardware and systems you already run.

Seamlessly integrates into your existing warehouse handhelds, cameras, and enterprise resource planning systems.

Scanner Hardware

Android & Zebra evaluation

Signed Android RC1 evaluation kit with a Zebra DataWedge reference path.

ERP & WMS

SAP • Oracle • NetSuite

Instant REST API, webhook streaming, and standard receiving file formats (JSON, CSV, EDI).

Compliance Standards

FDA DSCSA • EU FMD

Complete GS1 2D DataMatrix validation with GTIN-14, lot, serial, and expiry verification.

Edge Architecture

Signed Offline Grace

On-device processing is allowed only inside the backend-signed offline-grace window.

Enterprise ready

Enterprise trust

  • Your data is isolated from other accounts
  • Signed device access licenses
  • Secure SDK distribution
  • Full audit trail for device, billing, and admin actions
  • Configurable data retention and support logs
  • On-device processing by default
  • No silent OCR overwrite of valid barcode data
  • Reliable image processing and barcode scanning
  • Computer vision validation with structured data output

Practical by design

Barcode and image processing runs on your device. In normal use, shipment images are not required.

Works best with clear, visible labels. Unreadable or damaged barcodes are flagged for manual review rather than silently corrected.

Buyer & Architecture FAQ

Frequently asked questions about enterprise deployment.

Do we need to purchase new handheld scanner hardware to deploy Vision Scan?

The RC1 customer kit evaluates Android API 26+ and Zebra Android hosts. iOS and Linux are source previews, cloud is experimental, and Windows is unsupported. Check the release-specific support matrix before choosing hardware.

Are customer shipment images or sensitive data uploaded to the cloud?

The Android evaluation path processes submitted frames on-device. Network access is still required for authenticated license refresh, and any offline operation ends when the signed grace claim expires. Data export depends on the host integration and tenant policy.

How does Vision Scan satisfy the 2026 FDA DSCSA and EU FMD requirements?

Under the FDA Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA) and EU Falsified Medicines Directive (FMD), pharmaceutical products must be verified at the package unit level. Vision Scan validates the GS1 2D DataMatrix containing Application Identifiers (01) GTIN-14, (21) Serial Number, (17) Expiry Date, and (10) Batch/Lot Number, verifying check digits and suppressing duplicates before warehouse commit.

How does subscription licensing work across multi-site warehouse operations?

Vision Scan licenses are based on active receiving devices per site. You can enroll devices up to your purchased seat tier, manage device transfers and seasonal replacements, and view centralized fleet health telemetry from the customer operations portal. Both monthly and discounted annual billing are available.

What is included in the 14-day free evaluation?

Your evaluation account grants full access to the customer portal, SDK download center, test device enrollment keys, the live Barcode Workspace, and documentation. You can test in your actual warehouse environment with your current carton labels with zero hardware lock-in or credit card required.

Product identifiers

Understand the identifiers behind every scan.

GS1, GTIN, UPC and NDC identify products in different ways. Here is how they relate to Vision Scan's receiving workflows.

What is GS1?

GS1 is a global standards organization that develops identification, data-capture, and data-sharing standards used across supply chains. GS1 standards include identifiers such as GTINs and data carriers such as UPC-A, EAN-13, GS1 DataMatrix, and GS1-128.

What is a GTIN?

A GTIN (Global Trade Item Number) is a unique identifier used to identify a trade item such as a product that may be priced, ordered, or invoiced in a supply chain. GTINs come in formats including GTIN-8, GTIN-12, GTIN-13, and GTIN-14.

A barcode is a data carrier that can encode a GTIN; the GTIN itself is the underlying product identifier.

What is a UPC?

UPC usually refers to the Universal Product Code used in North American retail. In GS1 terminology, UPC-A carries a GTIN-12, which is a 12-digit GTIN.

UPC is common barcode and data-carrier terminology; GTIN-12 is the underlying GS1 identification number.

What is an NDC?

An NDC (National Drug Code) is the U.S. drug identifier used by the FDA to identify marketed drug products. The NDC identifies the labeler, product, and package configuration.
